Nottingham Forest appear to be prioritising an Elliot Anderson replacement at the moment.

With Elliot Anderson expected to join Manchester City for a British record transfer fee, Nottingham Forest will have substantial funds to sign an adequate replacement.

Lucas Bergvall is believed to be on Vitor Pereira’s radar after it emerged that he wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

There are also some fantastic midfielders at the World Cup who Forest should seriously consider launching a bid for.

With that said, we’ve picked out two who would be great fits for the Tricky Trees.

Ibrahim Maza – Algeria

Ibrahim Maza plies his trade in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, and he has established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the division.

Maza’s impressive performances at club level have already earned him a whopping 19 caps for Algeria at the age of 20.

The versatile Algerian, who has started both games at the World Cup, can operate as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder and even as a centre-forward.

Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly having a close look at Maza, so it won’t be an easy deal to do for Forest.

Leverkusen want £60m to sanction his sale, although perhaps James McAtee could be offered in a swap deal.

The German club were very keen on signing McAtee last summer.

Caleb Yirenkyi – Ghana

Another exciting midfield option for Forest this summer is Ghana’s wonderkid Caleb Yirenkyi.

The 20-year-old, who is under contract with Danish side Nordsjaelland, is a powerful box-to-box midfielder who enjoys breaking up the play.

Yirenkyi scored a dramatic late winner against Panama in the opening group game, and he was impressive in the goalless draw with England, too.

Yirenkyi has been linked with a move to Porto and Galatasaray, so there is a good opportunity for Forest to hijack the £25m deal.

The 2006-born registered eight goal involvements in the Danish league last term.
