Nottingham Forest could be getting very close to the first signing of the Oliver Glasner era.
The Reds are going to be in the market for a number of signings this summer, and Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is currently with the squad in Portugal.

Forest are set to sign Xaver Schlager on a free transfer, with the midfielder thought to be jetting out to Portugal to conduct his medical and sign on the dotted line.
However, Glasner’s first signing might actually be a big one, with a new defender looking like he’s very close to joining Forest.
Nottingham Forest take big step towards Ousmane Diomande signing
Since Forest’s 3-0 win over Blackburn in Glasner’s second pre-season game, it’s been claimed that Sporting CP are close to announcing a signing to replace Diomande.
Ibrahima Ba is now in Portugal ready to pen terms with the Portuguese giants and that will open the door for Forest to complete the signing of the 22-year-old.
It’s believed by Mais Football in Portugal that Diomande and Forest have now reached a total agreement, and the only stumbling block was that of Sporting being able to finalise a replacement.
Now, with Ba believed to be in Portugal, it would seem that it’s just a matter of time, and with Marinakis ready and waiting in the Algarve, this deal could come to fruition very quickly.

It’s quite clear that Diomande is a Glasner signing on the basis that Crystal Palace almost signed him 12 months ago.

The addition of a 22-year-old with bags of potential still unearthed and someone who boasts Champions League experience shouldn’t be frowned upon, and he could be a shrewd addition.
Crucially, he’s a player wanted by Glasner, and after last summer’s debacle when nobody was sure who was actually signing the players, this is a positive step in the right direction.
Hopefully, this can go through smoothly and in time for the player to feature in further friendlies during this trip to Portugal.
