A report that has emerged this morning appears to have detailed why Nottingham Forest haven’t sacked Steve Cooper already. The incumbent has been under pressure following a run of one win in 12 games.
Forest lost 5-0 to Fulham during a round of midweek fixtures last week. That result saw Evangelos Marinakis toss his matchday pass away in disgust and led to some intense speculation.
Cooper oversaw a battling display at the weekend, however. They drew 1-1 with Wolves and afterwards, Harry Toffolo spoke about an important conversation with the squad and Miltos Marinakis, the son of Evangelos.
Report explains why Cooper hasn’t been sacked
Today, a report from The Athletic appears to have suggested why Forest have stuck with Cooper. The Reds face Tottenham on Friday night and it would appear that the 44-year-old will be in charge.
Paul Taylor is a man with his finger on the pulse at the City Ground and he believes that Marinakis is aware of a fan backlash should he sack the popular Cooper.
He believes that Marinakis would view sacking Cooper as a far more significant step than binning any of the other five managers who have been axed on his watch.

Despite Forest struggling this season, the fans have shown unwavering support towards Cooper. Fans sang his name continuously at Fulham and Wolves and that hasn’t gone unnoticed with Marinakis.
Marinakis right to give Cooper time at Forest
He’s had some critics in the past but Marinakis has shown over the last three years that he’s willing to learn. This is the third occasion that Forest have struggled in the Premier League but the owner has stuck with Cooper.
If the time does come for Marinakis to say goodbye to the current boss, few could complain that he’s not had time. Cooper is still learning as a head coach but he has been given ample time at Forest.
As a result, it’s a thankless position for the hierarchy to be in at the moment. Marinakis is in a damned-if-he-does and damned-if-he-doesn’t situation with the Forest boss right now and a big win against Tottenham could help calm things down a little bit.
