Gary Neville has given his verdict on whether or not Nottingham Forest should sack Steve Cooper after the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Forest went down 2-0 to Tottenham at the City Ground on Friday evening.
So, what has Gary Neville said about Nottingham Forest and Steve Cooper? Let’s take a look.
Gary Neville comments on Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest future after Tottenham Hotspur match
Well, Nottingham Forest have suffered yet another defeat. On Friday, Steve Cooper’s team went down 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at the City Ground in the Premier League.
Richarlison scored for Spurs in the second minute of first-half injury time. Dejan Kulusevski made it 2-0 to the North London club in the 65th minute.
Spurs were reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute when Yves Bissouma was sent off. Forest could not take advantage of that.
Forest are now 16th in the Premier League table with 14 points from 17 matches. They are five points above the relegation zone. Luton Town in 18th have played 16 games.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville was following the match for Sky Sports, and he believes that pressure is building on manager Cooper.
Neville said on Sky Sports Premier League (10:01 pm, December 15, 2023): “It’s difficult. They are playing against a very good team, a team that is giving the best teams in the country a lot of problems.

“One win in 13 is going to bring pressure, real pressure. It’s what the owner wants to do ultimately. The fans want to keep him. This is not a case of a dressing room lost, this is a dressing room trying and fighting their hardest.
“A lack of quality and sometimes a lack of goal threat and purpose, sometimes a lack of combinations.
“They are challenging and harassing but they are just a little bit basic compared to the team that they are playing tonight.”
Pressure building on Steve Cooper
I personally do not want to see Nottingham Forest sack Steve Cooper, but there is no doubt that pressure is going to build on him.
Of course, Tottenham Hotspur are a very side that recently drew with Manchester City and hammered Newcastle United, but losing at home will be a bitter blow for Forest.
I believe that Forest have a team that can finish above the bottom three, but it will be interesting to see what club owner Evangelos Marinakis does.
Pedro Martins and Julen Lopetegui are among the managers who have already been linked with Forest.
