Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor has given his verdict on the situation of Nottingham Forest and their owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Forest are in danger of getting a point deduction for financial issues, and Textor seems to have sympathy for the Premier League club.

So, what has Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor said about Nottingham Forest and Evangelos Marinakis? Let’s take a look.

John Textor comments on Nottingham Forest and Evangelos Marinakis

Well, Nottingham Forest are facing a points deduction, which could severely damage their chances of escaping the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.

As reported by talkSPORT, Forest have incurred Profitability and Sustainability breaches and face punishment from the Premier League.

Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor has given his verdict on the situation of Forest, and he seems to have some sympathy for owner Evangelos Marinakis, who is frustrated with another off-pitch issue that is affecting the Reds.

Textor told BBC Sport: “Let me say something else about [chairman] Steve Parish. Do you know how hard it is to do his job?

“Look at Nottingham Forest. This is a club with an owner that has an incredible amount of capital. And he comes in the Premier League and he’s told you can’t spend it. If you spend it and it falls into a category of losses then we are going to sanction you and we may send you back to the league you came from.

“It’s not about financial sustainability, it’s not about financial fair play, nobody is protecting the little guy. This is [expletive]. This is people making sure that you can only spend a percentage of your revenue.

“Steve has to run his club with a top line of revenues which is driven by television. If we want to put in a bunch of money to buy more players we’re not allowed to.

“So you have to watch your losses and you have to find a way to live between the eighth spot and 17th spot or you go back to the second division [the Championship].

“If anybody thinks that I have a problem with the way that Steve is running the club, and [how he] has stayed up for 12 years, just because we have a difference of opinion on things… try being Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis right now.”

My View: Nottingham Forest need to start winning matches

In my opinion, Nottingham Forest need to start winning matches in the Premier League and increase the gap between themselves and the bottom.

There is no point in Forest worrying about how many points they will be deducted. They have to focus on what is happening right now rather than what could happen in the coming weeks.

Nuno’s side are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 26 matches.

Forest are four points above Luton Town, who are third from bottom and have played 25 games.

The Reds have won one and lost four of their last six Premier League matches. The team need to put together a run of positive results soon, starting with a win against Liverpool at the City Ground.
