Anthony Elanga shares Evangelos Marinakis claim after Nottingham Forest’s victory vs Olympiacos

Nottingham Forest now have their eyes locked on to their Premier League opener next week against Bournemouth.

The pre-season friendlies are now complete following Thursday night’s trip across the continent to play Olympiacos in Greece.

Forest came out on top in what was a thrilling game against the Europa Conference League champions to cap off what has been a really positive summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be delighted with the preparations for the Cherries’ visit to the City Ground next week with his squad bolstered by six new signings.

And Forest’s exciting winger Anthony Elanga has now shared a claim on the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, following the game on Thursday night.

The 2023/24 campaign is certainly one which the Reds will be happy to put behind them having only just survived the drop.

Of course, Forest suffered from the points deduction which did not help their cause for Premier League safety.

However, this summer has offered Forest with a fresh start and their owner has certainly put his hand in his pocket to help his manager.

Thursday night provided Nuno’s players with their final opportunity to impress ahead of next week and there were certainly some positive displays on show.

Speaking from Greece after the game, Elanga admitted the owner – of both sides – must have been delighted with what he saw as the game ended 4-3.

“It’s always nice to get a win, and I bet it was it was good for the owner to watch two of his teams playing, battling out,” Elanga told the club’s YouTube channel.

“But no, it’s a really good game to play and coming and obviously scoring, as well, it’s a nice feeling to get myself ready for the Premier League next week. So it was an exciting game.”

Anthony Elanga has a big season ahead of him at Forest

This summer has provided plenty of speculation around Forest with some of their top players linked with potential moves away.

The Sweden international was no exception with Newcastle United believed to be interested in signing Elanga.

Nuno has seen some new wingers signed this summer and Forest have also bid for Porto winger Galeno earlier this week.

If Forest are able to pull of this signing for the £30m-rated Brazilian, the pressure will be put on the likes of Elanga to perform.

He scored a stunning goal on Thursday night and will be looking to build on what was a solid first season at the City Ground.
