It is now the eve of Nottingham Forest’s 2024/25 Premier League campaign getting underway as the Reds are set to do it all over again.

As far as summer preparations go, it has been a successful one for Forest with plenty of action both on and off the pitch.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been bolstered by six new signings this summer following a relegation-threatened 2023/24 season.

And that could soon become seven signings with Forest closing in on completing a deal for Ramon Sosa as he undergoes his medical.

But there will be some natural concerns hanging around the club given they ran so close to the drop last time out.

Where Alan Shearer and Micah Richards think Nottingham Forest will finish

It has been an exciting summer for the Reds but all of their preparations will count for nothing if they can’t do it on the pitch.

But the efforts have gone in behind the scenes with Anthony Elanga saying how brutal Nuno’s training sessions were in the Spanish heat.

And it seems as if Forest’s work over the summer may just have impressed Alan Shearer and Micah Richards enough when they made their predictions.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, the BBC Sport duo shared their predictions for the relegation battle for this season.

“I have got them in a relegation battle but I think they will have enough, just. Something similar to last season,” said Shearer.

“I agree with Alan on that one,” Richards replied.

Will Nottingham Forest avoid relegation this season?

The Reds certainly have the quality to avoid the drop but there are certainly some seriously strong sides developing in the bottom half of the Premier League.

Money is being spent by most sides as they bid to provide themselves with the best chances of staying up.

Forest are looking for a new striker and Eddie Nketiah is the latest name to be linked with a potential move to the City Ground.

Whether he could make a difference or not is a big question but if Chris Wood can provide the same output as last season that would be a huge boost.

Losing a big name player in the final weeks of the window would be a real blow, but Forest have certainly done just about all they can this summer to give themselves a good shot at survival.
