Nottingham Forest got their 2024/25 campaign up and running on Saturday with a point against Bournemouth.
Nuno Espirito Santo must have been left delighted with how his Forest side reacted following what was a dreadful start to the game.
It looks as if Danilo is going to miss a lengthy period of time after picking up a horrendous injury in the opening minutes of the game.
But the reaction from the Reds was terrific with Chris Wood providing the opening goal of Forest’s season inside the first 23 minutes.
However, the second half was a different story as the Reds were unable to add to their lead and ended up clinging on to a point in the final minutes.
With one point on the board, here are Nottingham Forest News‘ first batch of player ratings of the 2024/25 campaign…

Matz Sels – 6
Could not do a lot with the equaliser in what was otherwise a quiet afternoon for the Forest goalkeeper.
Neco Williams – 7
Having already picked up a yellow card, Neco Williams probably should have picked up another yellow early on inside the second half.
He can count himself very fortunate. But he was otherwise solid as he got up and down the pitch trying to make things happen.
Murillo – 7
Unfortunately, found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time for the equaliser as the clearance was cannoned off him.
Forest fans will be delighted to still have him around and he saved them from defeat with the final touch of the game.
Willy Boly – 7
Featured in Nikola Milenkovic’s absence and was only denied a goal through a brilliant stop from the Bournemouth goalkeeper.
Ola Aina – 6
Another injury concern for the Reds. Left-back is a position which Forest are looking to add to this summer before the deadline.
Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno is believed to be on Forest’s radar with a loan deal being discussed.
Danilo – N/A
Everyone is wishing Danilo a speedy recover.
Ibrahim Sangare – 6
A solid first half performance, but the Reds lost their bite in the middle of the park in the second half.
With Danilo now out for a long period of time, Ibrahim Sangare is going to have a big role to play in midfield for Nuno.
Anthony Elanga – 6
Not his usual bright self after an impressive pre-season and was taken off as Nuno looked to freshen things up down the flank. Better days will come…
Morgan Gibbs-White – 7
Morgan Gibbs-White has recently hinted he is here to stay at Forest but he was not able to find the finishing touch on Saturday.
Not through a lack of trying but Gibbs-White just could not provide the final ball.
Callum Hudson-Odoi – 8
Man of the Match for the Reds. Callum Hudson-Odoi provided a threat down the left side but was unable to find the back of the net to seal the points.
Chris Wood – 7
Chris Wood did not have a huge amount of opportunities but he took his goal incredibly well.
Forest came into the game being linked with a move for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah having not signed a new striker all summer.
But Wood certainly showed the City Ground that he was ready to replicate his stunning 2023/24 campaign.
Substitutes
Ryan Yates – 7
Came on after 15 minutes for Danilo who picked up his serious injury in the opening few minutes of the game.
Ryan Yates was credited with the assist for the opening goal of Forest’s season and put in a typical Yates shift.
Harry Toffolo – 6
Came on in Aina’s place and looked to get forward but Forest’s need to add more quality in that position is evident.
Arguably could have done better with his clearance for the goal.
Nicolas Dominguez – 6
Was unable to really provide much of an impact having been brought on to boost Forest’s midfield.
Elliot Anderson – 6
Did not get into the swing of the game before Forest conceded. Needs more minutes from the start to really show what he can do.
Taiwo Awoniyi – 6
Unable to find the winner after replacing Wood up top.
