Just over an hour before Nottingham Forest kick off their 2024/25 Premier League campaign, a big transfer update emerged.

Nuno Espirito Santo welcomed Forest‘s seventh signing of the summer on Friday night when Ramon Sosa completed his move from Talleres.

Sosa had pushed for a move to Forest as the Paraguayan rebelled against training with the Argentine side over recent days.

There is just under two weeks remaining in the transfer window before it shuts until January but Forest are still looking to do more.

And one area of the pitch which is becoming increasingly apparent to be where the Reds want to see improvement is left-back.

Nottingham Forest eyeing defender from Aston Villa

Left-back is certainly an area which the Reds want to add to with Bradley Locko having been a target for Forest before he picked up his serious injury.

Since Locko ruptured his achilles, Rennes defender Adrien Truffert has emerged as a target for Forest but they face serious competition for his signature.

According to David Ornstein, the Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno is now a target for Forest ahead of deadline day.

It is claimed Forest are looking to bring in the 31-year-old left-back on a season-long loan deal.

Moreno is believed to be high up on Forest’s shortlist this summer with Villa aware of the interest arriving for their defender.

However, Forest are going to need to battle off further competition for Moreno with interest arriving from across Europe.

What Ian Wright said about Alex Moreno previously

Moreno has now played 48 times for Villa since signing for them back in 2023 where he has returned three goals and three assists.

However, he only made 21 appearances in the Premier League last season with just 11 of those coming from the starting XI.

But he is a player who has been rated highly since his move from Real Betis in a deal which cost Villa around £13m just over a year ago.

Ian Wright has previously waxed lyrical about Moreno with the left-back’s crossing ability hailed.

“It’s brilliant, that’s brilliant from Moreno,” said Wright on Premier League Productions in 2023 after Moreno proved a real attacking threat.

“You know what’s good about this cross is that he’s got players in and around him. He’s just put that ball in an area, then he has a forward who has attacked.
