Nottingham Forest have made a fine start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign and are tenth in the table with 10 points from seven matches.

After a positive result against Chelsea last weekend, Forest could have perhaps done without another break for international football to take centre stage.

Forest have a number of players currently trying to do well for their respective countries with the Nations League taking priority in Europe.

Morgan Gibbs-White was forced to pull out of the England squad and was denied a chance of a second cap after picking up an ankle injury against Chelsea.

Last night, one Forest player was in action for his country and will perhaps be left feeling a little bit aggrieved about something that happened this morning.

Nikola Milenkovic robbed during Serbia win

Forest have a new star man in their ranks and he’s a Serbian centre-back who would head a brick if it meant protecting the Nottingham Forest goal.

Henry Winter has spoken fondly of Forest many times since a return to the Premier League and he’s a huge fan of Milenkovic.

Last night, he was in action for Serbia as they faced a tough-looking contest with Switzerland in the Nations League.

What appeared to be a tricky game didn’t prove as such for Serbia with the hosts running out comfortable 2-0 winners.

Milenkovic ran off in celebration after believing he’d scored the opening goal of the victory for Serbia.

However, UEFA appears to have robbed Milenkovic of a third goal for his country by officially marking it down as an own goal by Nico Elvedi.

The Forest man might be bitterly disappointed with that but at least it proved to be a big win for Serbia who badly needed a win in the Nations League.

Interest emerges in Forest star Milenkovic

It was claimed this weekend that Newcastle are closely monitoring Milenkovic ahead of the transfer window reopening.

That will come as a surprise to absolutely nobody at Forest after Newcastle tried to poach Anthony Elanga on transfer deadline day this summer.

Forest want £50 million for Milenkovic though and that would represent huge profit for a player who cost £12 million in July.

Milenkovic won’t be for sale as such though as he’s been nothing short of a revelation since signing for Forest.

He’s been instrumental in the strong early season form and the hope will be that he can continue to form an important part in the team this season.
