Nottingham Forest did a lot of strong transfer business in the summer and rewards are being reaped on the pitch.

The Reds sit fifth in the Premier League table and have 19 points from the 11 matches played so far.

Nuno Espirito Santo hailed Murillo for his maiden Premier League goal on Sunday but Newcastle did end a four-match unbeaten run with a 3-1 win over Forest.

There have been several top performances this season, with Chris Wood scoring eight times and being given a new nickname by Shay Given.

Elsewhere, Matz Sels has impressed Joe Hart and the whole defensive unit looks much more settled.

In attack, there haven’t been wholesale changes but one pundit has already made a very solid prediction about one summer signing.

Tim Sherwood being proved right about Elliot Anderson

When it comes to Sherwood, he’s often been the butt of people’s jokes with a number of memes and GIFs made from his time in management.

However, perhaps he should be given a little more respect.

Sherwood nailed the Anderson signing in the summer and told the Premier League website that he will become the signing of the summer.

Anderson has been worth his weight in gold since signing for Forest and has shown serious flashes of promise during his short time at the club.

The 22-year-old might have cost Forest £35 million but he’s already managed to get himself three assists across the campaign so far.

Anderson looks the ideal signing for Forest

The versatile midfielder has been a regular with the England under-21 setup since signing for Forest.

His profile makes him the perfect signing from a Forest perspective and he can now settle at a club and play regular football away from Newcastle.

The Reds worked hard to get a deal over the line and with Newcastle’s PSR in turmoil, Forest took advantage.

Anderson still has work to do to really pin down a place in Espirito Santo’s team.

Morgan Gibbs-White operates in the number 10 role and that’s where Anderson will really feel his quality can shine through.

Sherwood was onto something when he backed Anderson to be a hit, however, and Forest fans are extremely happy – if a little surprised – at the player’s impact.
