Nottingham Forest have made a blistering start to the 2024/25 campaign and occupy a lofty league position.

Despite a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle before the international break, Forest sit fifth in the Premier League table.

There have been a number of top performers and that is evident by the fact that a number of players are currently on international duty.

Forest have had a number of positive results so far this season and the hope will be that a relegation battle can be given a wide berth during the campaign.

With the domestic action now taking a break, we’ve looked at the 10 best Forest players this season and ranked them in our power rankings.

Nottingham Forest Power Rankings

10. Alex Moreno

In truth, Moreno is only so low down the order because he didn’t really start playing until September.

Moreno has made 17 tackles from his eight appearances and the fact he’s left-footed brings some much-needed balance to the back four.

Forest will hope that Moreno can stay fit and hopefully, his form will lead to a permanent deal being made in the summer.

9. Matz Sels

The goalkeeper has really proved himself this season and he’s been vastly improved on his form during 2023/24.

Sels earned praise from Joe Hart for his heroics against Chelsea and he’s kept four clean sheets during the current campaign.

The experienced stopper has done well to keep Carlos Miguel out of the team and he’s now firmly established as the team’s number one.

8. Morgan Gibbs-White

Gibbs-White has been in steady form, although he will strive for more consistency once he truly recovers from his ankle injury.

Last night Gibbs-White was in fine form for England and he will be hoping to get a first start for the national team against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday.

Although it’s not been vintage Gibbs-White just yet this season, there is definitely an argument that Forest are still a better side when he plays.

7. Elliot Anderson

Eyebrows were raised when Forest parted with £35 million to prise Anderson away from Newcastle in the summer.

Some PSR gymnastics saw Odysseas Vlachodimos go in the opposite direction for £20 million and Forest definitely have the good end of the bargain.

Anderson is striving for a run of games but he gets in the team for his form when replacing Gibbs-White when he was out with an ankle injury.

6. Ryan Yates

What you see is still very much what you get with the Forest captain.

Nobody on the team epitomises what playing for Forest is all about and he’s still giving his all to become a top Premier League football.

Scored his first goal of the season against Leicester and has made Alexis MacAllister and Enzo Fernandez look pretty foolish so far during the campaign.

5. Callum Hudson-Odoi

According to Who Scored, Hudson-Odoi is the second-best player in terms of overall rating this season.

Hudson-Odoi has the most successful dribbles this season with 16 and he’s got two goals to his name during the campaign.

At an astonishing £3 million, Hudson-Odoi is still proving a remarkable piece of business made by Forest and his best form could still be yet to come.

4. Murillo

Right now, the Brazilian is with the Brazil national team and last night he was an unused substitute as a 1-1 draw with Venezuela was secured.

The 22-year-old was wanted by a number of clubs in the summer and his form this season has showcased exactly why.

Murillo has made a remarkable 65 clearances this season and he’s been a big part of the recent success at Forest.

3. Ola Aina

The defender has been switched across to right-back this season and somehow he’s been even better than he was last season on the left.

Aina has made 27 clearances this season, whilst he’s also made the most tackles in the Forest squad with 22 during 2024/25.

His recent goal against West Ham was fantastic and will surely be a contender for the Goal of the Month accolade later this month.

2. Chris Wood

Wood has to slot into these power rankings given that he’s scored eight goals from 11 appearances this season.

Many had doubted whether Wood would be quite as prolific this season after his 14 Premier League goals during 2023/24.

But, Wood is well on his way and as Alan Shearer says the Forest man is in the form of his life.

1. Nikola Milenkovic

The Serbian defender has been a top quality addition and at £12 million he is proving a real bargain.

Milenkovic has won 28 headers this season with only Wood winning more across the campaign.

So far, we think he’s been the most important Forest player and it will be interesting to see if he remains as the number one in our list as the season progresses.
