Jamie Carragher, as many did, underestimated Nottingham Forest at the start of the season and now he’s coming out to apologise for his mistake.

Nottingham Forest have been the shock of the season, as there often is in the Premier League, with Leicester City and Wolves doing it in the past.

Things have tailed off ever so slightly in the last two games, but even that hasn’t pushed Forest out of the European places with Saturday’s clash with Ipswich to come.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s men have already shown they can beat the likes of Liverpool, so they won’t be fazed by a trip to Manchester City and Manchester United.

However, it will provide a good test and really affect Forest’s positioning in the race for Europe.

Interestingly, one man who has underestimated Nottingham Forest is Jamie Carragher, as he’s come out and apologised for being so wrong.

Jamie Carragher makes admission on Nottingham Forest players

Jamie Carragher thought Nottingham Forest would get relegated, and he’s been proven wrong.

He’s not the only one, as Sam Matterface also made a U-turn on his decision to place Nottingham Forest in the relegation places prior to the season starting.

Nottingham Forest’s rise in form has forced Carragher to come out and apologise for underestimating one thing about the Reds.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, Carragher has admitted he didn’t know just how good the Nottingham Forest players were.

“Forest is the big one that I’ve got wrong, they came pretty close the last couple of years. I thought they maybe might have been affected by a point deduction this season, maybe with PSR.

“But some of the transfers they’ve done in the past, those sort of players are coming into fruition, now you look at the centre-backs they’ve got, they’ve been outstanding.

“And also what I got badly wrong is under appreciating how much quality they’ve got in attack, when you look at the attacking players, you know, Chris Wood at the top end of the pitch, Anderson who’s come in, Morgan Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi, Elanga.

“Those attacking players are probably players you’d expect to play for a team in the middle of the in the Premier League, actually, so I probably didn’t do my homework enough.”

Jamie Carragher calls for a rule change involving Nottingham Forest

Jamie Carragher has talked quite a bit about Nottingham Forest, including a rule change he wants after witnessing an incident involving them this season.

Tino Livramento was down with an injury during the Newcastle clash and couldn’t return to the field to defend an attack, which didn’t please Carragher.

“The way that rule has been set up at the moment, it’s something to be looked at. I mean, Livramento has had a whack there, should have had a free kick.

“Nottingham Forest have got a free kick, Livramento can’t defend it. They are actually down to 10 men. That has to change. That’s nonsense that.”
