Yuri Alberto is a name that keeps on coming up with Nottingham Forest ahead of January.

Evangelos Marinakis has made it no secret that he’ll invest in the January transfer window.

Nottingham Forest could do with a full-back and a striker to really add squad depth as we move into the second half of the season.

Neco Williams, Ola Aina and Alex Moreno are currently the only options to fill the full-back spots, whilst Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood make up the striker options.

One player that Nottingham Forest have on their radar is Yuri Alberto, and he’s been speaking about his playing preferences recently at Corinthians.

Chris Wood has been prolific this season with 11 goals in the Premier League without any real competition for his starting spot, but that could be about to change.

Alberto was named the leading Brazilian goalscorer in 2024, scoring a whopping 31 goals.

We’ve already heard the ultimatum from Alberto ahead of January, and now he’s shared his favourite playing style to give Nuno Espirito Santo a bit more insight.

Speaking in an interview with the program Jogo Aberto.

“I’ve played at Internacional as a center forward and I’ve played as a winger too, but I’ve never been that center forward who holds the ball. I’ve never done that.

“What I like most to play is how it is now, with more freedom, with two strikers. Playing with a guy on the side, like Memphis, who attracts a lot of marking, helps me to better understand the spaces.

“I did that with Róger Guedes. At Inter, I played as a second striker as well, with Galhardo, Abel Hernández and Paolo Guerrero.”

Nuno Espirito Santo will love Yuri Alberto’s words

Nuno Espirito Santo has operated with Chris Wood as the lone striker and Morgan Gibbs-White just off him for large parts of this season at Nottingham Forest.

It’s clear that Yuri Alberto has experience both playing off the striker and leading the line for Corinthians, which automatically shows he could do both Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White’s job.

He may not be the best at holding up the ball, but his speed and ability to run into spaces would work perfectly with Nuno’s counter-attacking style.

The fact he’s shown he can link up well with a second striker in Memphis Depay bodes well if he ever has to face up with Morgan Gibbs-White just behind him.

Alberto could even play just off Wood, as he’s known to attract plenty of attention with the ball as he looks to hold things up, which gives the Brazilian the freedom he craves.
