Nottingham Forest have been one of the surprises of the season, but it could all be in vein if they don’t make the most of it in the second half of the campaign.

Regardless of what happens this season, Nuno Espirito Santo deserves huge amounts of credit for the way he’s transformed this club on the field.

His tactical genius is often underrated and was even dismissed at Tottenham, but Nottingham Forest won’t mind as they’re getting the rewards.

One of the most impressive issues that Nuno as already fixed at Nottingham Forest comes in the defensive third. The Reds leaked goals from set pieces last season and had one of the worst defences, whereas this time round they currently have the third best defence.

A big part of that was keeping all the key players to work from in the summer, and that still looks to be the priority moving forward.

Evangelos Marinakis reveals January transfer priority

Evangelos Marinakis has been busy turning £82 million into a 82 billion 1ps ahead of the new changes to the APT rules, as it allows the loan to be interest free.

The Nottingham Forest owner has already revealed that there will be some money to spend in January, but the club won’t move away from their cautious policy.

Marinakis was speaking at the Globe Soccer Dubai Awards after Olympiacos took the ‘club revelation’ prize, an he said this about Nottingham Forest (as per Daily Mail).

“We will do whatever is needed to be stronger and of course our coach will decide what he really needs.

“We must keep the same spirit and same environment in the dressing room and all our players this year have the right spirit. This is a very good climate we should try our very best not to interrupt it.

“It is an important achievement because in all positions we have players who perform or even over-perform. For us this is our first priority – keep the momentum, keep winning and continue to enjoy the journey.”

Evangelos Marinakis knows his stuff

Many owners in the position Nottingham Forest are in might throw the bank card at the January transfer window in an attempt to maintain the current position.

However, that’s not what has gotten Nottingham Forest here over the past year, so there’s no point in changing the current policy.

Keeping the likes of Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White in the summer really allowed the club to have a platform to build off, and that’ll be the same in January.

It’s highly unlikely in a January transfer window that there would be any players good enough and available to replace the likes of Gibbs-White and Murillo if they were to be sold.
