Nottingham Forest beat Wolves 3-0 on Monday night to continue an impressive run of Premier League form.

Goals from Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi made it six wins in succession for the rampant Forest side.

Gibbs-White was praised by Jamie Carragher during the game last night and there were another host of top performers.

Even a dodgy VAR call couldn’t dampen the spirits of Forest with the Premier League releasing a statement at half-time of the contest.

Nuno Espirito Santo deserves massive praise for what he’s achieved so far at Forest – even if he insists he’s not looking at the league table yet.

Dean Ashton raves about Nottingham Forest star Chris Wood

Ashton knows about playing the role of a big centre forward and it’s no surprise that he enjoys watching Wood play football.

The 33-year-old was once again in the goals last night and he’s flying in front of goal again this season.

Wood has been given a new nickname by Shay Given and now he’s got another admirer in Ashton too it would seem.

He told TalkSPORT (07/01; 07:14): “Oh it’s absolutely magnificent. Especially for me who was a big lump of a centre-forward, I love watching Chris Wood. He kind of watches the action around him and then just pops up in the box and taps one in. He’s been brilliant.”

Wood bagged 14 goals in the Premier League last season and now he’s only one strike away from that tally.

Chris Wood stats vs Wolves

It was once again another typical performance from Wood and perhaps Ashton has been a bit harsh on the talisman.

Although it feels like all he does is score goals, he was actually busy helping out defensively last night too.

Much like Harry Kane does for England, Wood doesn’t always wait for the ball to come to him and instead he drops deeper to get involved.

His goals have been huge for Forest this season and the hope will be that he can continue scoring to fire the team into Europe.

Wood has proved everyone wrong with his form over the last two years and right now, Forest have a player in the form of his life leading the line.
