Nottingham Forest defeated Wolves at Molineux on Monday night to make it six wins in succession with the Reds now on 40 points from 20 games.

Nuno Espirito Santo hailed Matz Sels for his efforts between the posts and his brilliant saves gave Forest the catalyst for a 3-0 win.

Morgan Gibbs-White celebrated wildly after scoring after seven minutes, with Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi adding further goals later in the piece.

It was another remarkable performance for a team who quite simply can’t stop winning at the moment and the plaudits continue to come the way of Forest.

Alan Shearer named three players and Espirito Santo as the head coach in his Team of the Week, with Forest now earning refreshing praise for their form.

Chris Wood pays tribute to Forest teammate Taiwo Awoniyi

Arguably the best thing about the Forest win against Wolves came in the 94th minute when Awoniyi tapped home after some good work from Callum Hudson-Odoi and James Ward-Prowse.

It’s been a frustrating time of things for Awoniyi during 2024/25 with injuries and the former of Wood hampering his game time for the Reds.

The delight was written all over his face after Awoniyi rounded off a brilliant win and the fact he was mobbed by his teammates tells its own story too.

Wood was quizzed on Awoniyi after the game and he paid tribute to his teammate who has been working very hard at his game behind the scenes.

Wood told BBC Sport: “He’s a big part of us. A fantastic player, that’s what he wants and he deserves it for all the work he puts in on and off the pitch.”

Awoniyi can play a big part in second-half of Forest season

It’s been claimed that Forest might look to offload Awoniyi this month – although that is hopefully wide of the mark given a lack of centre-forwards.

Awoniyi will hope to get more minutes on Saturday when Forest welcome Championship outfit Luton Town to the City Ground in the FA Cup.

The man signed for £18 million from Union Berlin hasn’t all of a sudden become a bad player and when it comes to strikers it’s usually a confidence thing.

It was great to see the whole team rally around Awoniyi after his goal at Wolves and quite clearly, he’s a big character in the dressing room.
