Nottingham Forest have a real ace at the heart of their defensive unit and his name is Murillo.

The centre-back has grown this season alongside Nikola Milenkovic and it appears that his valuation has soared considerably in the eyes of the football club.

Manchester City considered signing Murillo before Forest jumped in with a concrete offer of £10.6 million to bring him to the City Ground.

Forest are now working on a new contract for Murillo, although it does feel like a truly big club awaits the Brazilian at some point in the future.

Against Everton recently, Murillo missed his first Forest game in the Premier League after picking up an injury in the warm-up.

However, he returned to form against Wolves on Monday, clearing one effort off the line in the first half and largely playing extremely well throughout.

Murillo looks to be growing with every game and Forest think that Murillo might actually break some sort of record when the time does come to leave the club.

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo has new price tag

It’s now claimed by The Athletic that Forest could command upwards of £70 million to any club who are keen to test the water and try to sign Murillo in the future.

It’s quite remarkable to think just how much profit Forest will make when Murillo does leave and he’s proving a superb piece of transfer business.

The 22-year-old has made 55 appearances for Forest and from his first outing to the game against Wolves on Monday there has been significant progress.

Morgan Gibbs-White hailed Murillo last year when he received a first Brazil call-up, although he never managed to get on the pitch to make his debut.

Forest won’t have any desire to sell Murillo at the moment but given his ability and vast potential, it might not be too long before genuine offers are being made.

Forest could get a world-record transfer fee for a defender

The latest report also claims that Forest might actually hold out for a world record transfer fee when it comes to the sale of a defender.

The current record is held by Josko Gvardiol who moved to Manchester City from RB Leipzig for a fee in the region of £80 million.

Forest might look to command such a fee and if the Reds qualify for Europe this season it could enhance the club’s position on that front.

Murillo has been praised by Ian Wright and his ability to entertain supporters despite playing as part of the rearguard is quite something.

Forest struck gold when they landed Murillo from Corinthians and it will be fascinating to see what the future holds for the left-sided centre-back.
