Everyone has started to take notice of Nottingham Forest this season with the club sitting pretty in third place in the Premier League table as the campaign ticks over the halfway stage.
Forest face Liverpool tonight knowing that a defeat would see the team remain in third. Naturally with seven wins on the spin, however, the Reds won’t be thinking about losing the match.
There have been a number of top performers this season. Elliot Anderson has been praised by Alan Shearer, with Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic also hailed at various points.
Joe Hart has been impressed with Matz Sels this season and who can forget Chris Wood? The striker has scored 12 goals during 2024/25 and is now the leading Forest goalscorer in the Premier League era.
It would appear that Premier League players don’t like to play against Wood. Now, one has been discussing his brilliance and it would appear he’s taking opposition players by surprise.

Antoine Semenyo names Chris Wood as player who surprised him
Earlier this week, the Bournemouth player who is seemingly sought-after this month sat down for a rare interview with Ball Talk on YouTube.
Towards the end of the interview he was posed the question of who he thinks is the most underrated forward currently operating in the Premier League – and he was in no doubt as to who he should pick.
He explained: “I would say Chris Wood at Nottingham Forest. What that man does for them, honestly, it’s so crucial to the way they play and the way they win games.
“Like, he might not be the most appealing on the eye but just the basic, it’s perfect, like the keeper kicks it long you need a target man to get it down and bring people into play, he does that he wins every aerial ball.
“When we played them away he won every header and I’m there looking and thinking, ‘this is crazy’, the ball was like a magnet but he’s criminally underrated, he’s so good.”

Shay Given has given Wood a new nickname this season. He hasn’t been able to stop scoring and he looks well on course to eclipse the 14 Premier League goals that he scored last season.
The Reds have hit the jackpot with paying just £15 million for Wood. It took him some time to get going at the City Ground but he’s worked tirelessly to swing things around and now he’s reaping the rewards.
| Chris Wood stats 2024/25 | Total |
| Appearances | 20 |
| Goals | 12 |
| Aerials Won | 53 |
| Shots | 36 |
Wood is close to agreeing on a new contract with the Reds and that would be ideal at this stage of the season with the striker having just six months to run on his existing deal.
Despite the fact he’s 33, Wood is still capable. As a result, Forest can’t risk him leaving any time soon, especially with interest rife in Taiwo Awoniyi from West Ham at the moment.
