Nottingham Forest are going to go all out to try and land a striker before the January transfer window closes in February, with several names linked with a move to the club.

Evangelos Marinakis wants a new attacker before the window slams shut. Forest are riding high in the Premier League and currently occupy third place in the table after 22 games.

Yoane Wissa was linked with a move to Forest earlier this week. The Brentford striker is attracting interest from a host of clubs but Thomas Frank doesn’t want to see him leave the Bees before the end of this window.

In recent days, Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has been linked with Forest. He’s bagged 10 goals this season and is now stalling on a new contract with his current club.

Nottingham Forest must make another play for Santiago Gimenez

This one might upset some fans, but the Reds have to back in for a player who is currently bang in form. Gimenez rejected Forest three times in the summer, citing a desire to play Champions League football for Feyenoord.

That shouldn’t be denied to a player who scored 26 goals last season to help the club qualify. Right now, it’s fair to say that he’s producing the goods and last night he scored twice against Bayern Munich.

Feyenoord stunned the German giants by thrashing them 3-0 in the Rotterdam rain. Gimenez was on hand to score from the penalty spot and also bagged another stunning goal to take his tally to 15 goals in just 18 games.

Gimenez has shared the reason why he rejected Forest since the summer. He merely wanted to play in the Champions League and didn’t really want to move anywhere during the last window.

Gimenez could thrive in current Forest team

At 23-years-old, the striker is going to have plenty of suitors in the coming windows. Even this month, it’s been claimed that Milan are keen on Gimenez and might be tempted to make a move.

If the player is still valued at around £30 million, making a move is a no-brainer. Gimenez clearly knows where the back of the net is and with Forest in a lofty league position, he might fancy helping the team over the line.

With the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Anthony Elanga and Elliot Anderson all creating chances in the Forest team, Gimenez might find himself thriving.

It might be unpopular to some supporters who feel let down by Gimenez changing his mind in the summer. However, football is a fickle industry and his performance last night against Bayern Munich suggests that Forests should definitely try and land him again.
