Nottingham Forest bank UEFA payout in boost for PSR, Evangelos Marinakis will be delighted

Nottingham Forest have had their issues with PSR.

Last season, Nottingham Forest were handed a four-point deduction after breaching PSR regulations, which saw them drop into the relegation zone.

Ultimately, Nuno Espirito Santo steered them away from the drop zone and now his side are fighting for Champions League football.

The Tricky Trees currently reside in sixth, but if they win their game in hand against Brentford on Thursday, they’ll move back into third place.

If Forest manage to qualify for Europe’s top league, they’ll have a much bigger budget for the summer transfer window.

And, now they’ve just received a payout from UEFA in a small PSR boost, too.

Nottingham Forest receive UEFA payout

International breaks can be a real pain for Premier League clubs.

Like many others, Nottingham Forest run the risk of seeing one of their key stars pick up an injury whilst away with their national team.

Plus, upon their return, often they’re jet-lagged or run down, which completely disrupts their rhythm and form.

But, there is a positive, as the Tricky Trees are entitled to a payout from UEFA for releasing players on international duty.

And, according to UEFA, Forest have banked £452,392, which will give a small PSR boost ahead of the summer window.

Whilst it’s not going to move the needle much with PSR, it’s extra income regardless, which is always a good thing, so Evangelos Marinakis will be pleased.

Forest already looking ahead to the summer transfer window

Nuno and his recruitment team are already making plans for the summer transfer window, with European football of some sort on the horizon.

They’ll need a much bigger squad, so it’s understood that the club are looking at providing support for Chris Wood up front.

Forest have been eyeing Bournemouth’s Evanilson, who has netted 11 goals this season following a £40m switch from Porto.

Liverpool centre-forward Darwin Nunez is also on Nuno’s radar and will cost around £35m, with the Reds happy to sanction his sale.
