After Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Thursday, Forest’s interest in Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo is looking more and more appealing.
Brentford exposed Nuno Espirito Santo’s flaws by forcing the Reds to dominate possession, which allowed their dynamic attack of Wissa and Mbeumo to thrive.
In January, Forest made strong efforts to sign Wissa as an alternative to Chris Wood, but the deal never materialised, a moment that looks to be haunting the club, as Taiwo Awoniyi isn’t impressing Forest fans.
Mbeumo has also been linked with Forest, with plans for a summer attacking swoop intensifying, leading to a fresh report suggesting how the Reds feel about pursuing the pair in the summer.

Nottingham Forest’s plans for Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo
Seemingly as a priority, Evangelos Marinakis is desperate to sign a striker to bolster his Forest squad, with Brentford’s dynamic duo certainly high up on the hypothetical wishlist.
According to GIVEMESPORT, the pair will certainly be looked at again in the summer window, hopefully with European football to offer as an incentive.
The report said: “The search for firepower is intensifying and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa is a target, while teammate Bryan Mbeumo is being looked at as a possible £50 million alternative to Wolverhampton Wanderers talisman Matheus Cunha.”
Frank has admitted Brentford may sell Mbeumo, so this £50m valuation could be achievable should Marinakis choose to favour the Cameroonian over Wissa, who would perhaps be a more natural option as a central striker.
However, when you compare the two, an argument can be made for either to be a perfect addition at the City Ground.
How Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa compare at Brentford
With Callum Hudson-Odoi linked with Roma, cover out wide might also be required. Luckily, though, both Wissa and Mbeumo can offer just that.
| Statistic | Bryan Mbeumo | Yoane Wissa |
| Goals | 18 | 18 |
| Assists | 7 | 3 |
| Chances created per 90 | 1.91 | 0.84 |
| Shots on target per 90 | 1.06 | 1.30 |
| Dispossessed per 90 | 1.12 | 1.02 |
What the pair of them offer is something that Nuno Espirito Santo demands from all of his attackers: efficiency.
Both have scored 18 goals in all competitions this season, from just over one shot on target per 90. Mbeumo and Wissa also protect the ball incredibly well, only being dispossessed once per game on average.
So really, it will come down to what profile would benefit the Forest squad more. Mbeumo offers greater creativity, but prefers to operate from the right side, whereas Wissa would be the stronger option centrally but wouldn’t offer the same chance-creation numbers.
