Nottingham Forest fans agree one player must play ‘for the rest of the season’ after Crystal Palace draw

A point closer to their Champions League ambitions, Nottingham Forest fans will be satisfied with the Crystal Palace draw, as well as a particular player who caught the eye.

The draw did leave Forest with just one win in five Premier League matches, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will certainly take the point in reaction to Thursday’s defeat to Brentford.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing as Forest fans criticised Morgan Gibbs-White, as well as the disappointment of seeing Murillo limp off with an injury after scoring the equalising goal.

Forest are still in the Champions League race, though, and Reds fans felt that one star showed enough to help see the side through in the run-in with a starting role.

Nottingham Forest fans were impressed by Ibrahim Sangare

Ibrahim Sangare was a surprise inclusion in the starting line-up, seeing as he hadn’t started a game since the FA Cup clash with Ipswich Town, but the Forest manager opted to give him this opportunity.

Despite being one of eight Forest players yellow-carded against Palace, Sangare clearly impressed the travelling fans, who took to social media to praise his display.

One fan said: “Sangare worked hard, took care of the ball and helped us up the pitch,” while another added: “Sangare is class, like a Rolls-Royce.”

Another Forest fan said: “Sangare impressed me tonight, thought he was brilliant,” with another adding: “Sangare was class tonight, we lost control when he came off.”

One Forest fan added: “Like the look of Anderson and Sangare,’ with another also saying: “Sangare is a top player, we looked a different team when he went off.”

It wasn’t just the fans, though, as Espirito Santo himself picked out Sangare for praise in his post-match comments.

Nuno Espirito Santo was pleased with Ibrahim Sangare’s display

Sangare tore his hamstring in September but has been fit for a while now, struggling to stake a claim in the Forest squad ahead of the likes of Elliot Anderson and Ryan Yates who have performed so well.

He took his chance on Monday, though, and evidently impressed his manager, who spoke to the Nottingham Post about Sangare after the game.

On what Sangare added, Espirito Santo said: “Energy. Since the injury, Ibrahim took some time. He has been able to get in some games. I think he had a good game and he brought us energy in the middle of the park. It was good.”

At the start of the season, Alan Shearer though Sangare would shine and whilst this hasn’t quite come to fruition, these crucial last three games to secure Champions League football could just be the time for the Ivorian to show his worth.
