Nottingham Forest host Leicester City in a key Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

After a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace last time out and a 2-0 defeat at home against Brentford prior to that, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be desperate to get back to winning ways against their East Midlands rivals.

If the Reds are victorious in their penultimate game at the City Ground this season, they will also reignite their faltering Champions League bid.

Chris Sutton has made his prediction ahead of the game, adding his view on whether Chris Wood will find the back of the net or not.

Chris Sutton predicts Chris Wood to score and Nottingham Forest to beat Leicester City

Sutton believes Sunday’s game with Leicester is ‘a must-win for Nottingham Forest in the top-five race.’

In giving his prediction, the 52-year-old said that while ‘the pressure is off Leicester because they are already down… if both teams play anything like they have done all season, then this is a Forest win, easily.’

Sutton then gave his view that the home side will win 2-0.

Interestingly, the former Premier League striker has also backed Chris Wood to find the back of the net, adding: ‘Chris Wood scored twice in a 3-1 win at the King Power in October, and although his goals have dried up a bit, I can see him getting back on the scoresheet here.’

While Wood scored in Forest’s excellent 2-1 win at Tottenham at the end of April, he has only notched two goals in his last 12 games in all competitions, meaning a strike on Sunday against his former club would be welcome.

Chris Wood’s successful spell at Leicester City

Wood has been excellent for Nottingham Forest this season, emerging as a key member of the first-team squad after firing 19 goals in 33 top flight appearances.

Playing for Leicester between 2012 and 2014, the Kiwi was similarly prolific during his first six months at the King Power Stadium, scoring nine goals in 20 Championship appearances for the Foxes in the 2012/13 season.

While not as prolific the following campaign, Wood still played his part, scoring some huge goals as he helped Leicester achieve promotion to the top-flight.

It adds to the excellent consistency that has been a feature of the 33-year-old’s career, with Wood’s struggles at Newcastle an outlier amid his strong form at Forest, Burnley, Leeds, and Leicester before that.
