Nottingham Forest are set to raid Brazilian outfit Botafogo of two of their top players once the Club World Cup is over next month.

Igor Jesus is signing for Forest after the tournament. He’s already said his goodbyes to the fans at the club’s home stadium and will become a Reds recruit next month.

Jesus scored for Botafogo last night as he nodded home brilliantly to send his team in 2-0 up at the half-time interval against Seattle Sounders.

Jesus won’t be travelling from Brazil alone, however. Jair Cunha is also signing for Forest and last night, he was also in action for Botafogo, starting at centre-back.

Brazilian media deliver verdict on Nottingham Forest bound star Jair Cunha

It’s fair to say that the young 20-year-old was one of the top performers for Botafogo during their opening game of the tournament.

He opened the scoring on 28 minutes, bagging his maiden goal in professional football by stunning the hosts.

Globo scored him 6/10 for his efforts and praised him for his performance during the Club World Cup match, even if there are things for him to work on.

They said: “He scored the first goal for Botafogo and played a solid role in the air. But, he made two silly passing errors in the defence, the second of which was in the last play of the match, which almost caused Seattle to equalise.”

Cunha could be Murillo in the making

It’s quite exciting that Murillo will probably stay at Forest this summer and not only that, but he could be joined by a player who isn’t too dissimilar to him in Cunha.

Cunha is 6ft 5in in stature and it would appear that he’s not particularly shy when it comes to playing out from the back.

By the sounds of it, the youngster will need to brush up on that side of his game, with some errors evident last night, but it’s admirable that he wants to play out from the back.

Nuno Espirito Santo will know how to get the best out of Cunha and hopefully, Forest will keep him at the club and allow him the chance to get some minutes in the cup competitions or in Europe next season.
