Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going right now.

Over a week ago, it was claimed that Gibbs-White was set to sign for Tottenham with the club seemingly triggering an unknown release clause within his Forest contract.

However, Evangelos Marinakis kicked up a stink that Tottenham hadn’t activated the clause in the way it should be and for now, Gibbs-White remains at Forest.

Yesterday, the number 10 played the first half as Forest drew 0-0 with Monaco and afterwards Gibbs-White applauded the crowd to spark more uncertainty over his future.

Intriguing claim made about Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

The Forest team are preparing for a pre-season training camp in Portugal, where games will be played against Portuguese outfit Estoril and Premier League rivals Fulham.

The Athletic are claiming that Gibbs-White will be heading to the training camp with his Forest teammates, which seemingly suggests that the player’s move to Tottenham isn’t close.

Gibbs-White will continue working with his fellow Forest teammates whilst the two clubs continue thrashing things out in the boardroom over a summer deal.

Forest are trying to get new signings sorted, with James McAtee being sought and the Reds making an opening offer for Bologna winger Dan Ndoye.

Forest need to resolve Gibbs-White issue

With the Reds player only having two years remaining on his existing deal, £60 million in the grand scheme of things doesn’t feel like bad business.

However, the way this is all playing out doesn’t bode well for Gibbs-White when it comes to maintaining a healthy relationship with the Forest fan base.

The Reds need to get things sorted when it comes to incoming additions, with the squad now looking considerably weaker than it did at the end of last season.

Gibbs-White could well move on but with the player going to Portugal with the rest of the team, it does feel as though nothing will be sanctioned until Forest have strengthened themselves.
