Nottingham Forest have now learned whether they’ll be signing Yoane Wissa over Newcastle United.

Nuno Espirito Santo tried to sign Yoane Wissa during the January transfer window, but Brentford stuck firm to their valuation.

Forest reignited their interest in Wissa after Anthony Elanga’s departure and submitted an offer under the £25m they were willing to pay in the winter.

The Bees knocked back that approach and told Evangelos Marinakis and his chiefs that they want in excess of £50m.

Now, there has been a fresh development on Wissa’s situation, although, it’s not good news for Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle close to signing Nottingham Forest target Yoane Wissa

It emerged earlier this week that Wissa prefers a move to Newcastle United as he’d get the chance to play Champions League football.

From that moment, a move to Nottingham Forest looked unlikely and now they’ve definitely learned their fate as Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie reports a transfer to Tyneside is ‘moving towards conclusion.’

A £35m package is being discussed between the two clubs and Wissa is pushing through the deal as he’s trying on his own.

From a Forest perspective, it’s another missed opportunity.

Forest have already turned their attention to Dan Ndoye

Nottingham Forest have moved on from Wissa over the last week, or so, and have their sights firmly set on Dan Ndoye.

In fact, Forest have just made a £40m bid for Ndoye and it’s believed the Bologna winger is keen on a move to the City Ground.

Napoli and Manchester United are also in the race to land his signature, so clearly there is stiff competition to beat, but Forest certainly have the funds to make a deal happen.

James McAtee remains on Forest’s radar, too, and he has recently turned down moves to the Bundesliga in favour of staying in England.
