Nottingham Forest are trying to sign Dan Ndoye from Bologna this summer transfer window.

After Anthony Elanga’s departure to Newcastle United, there is a pressing need for Nottingham Forest to sign a right-winger.

Ndoye has been identified as a top target by Nuno Espirito Santo and his chiefs after an impressive season for the Serie A outfit.

The 24-year-old wide player registered an impressive 15 goal involvements across all competitions and featured in every Champions League game.

Forest have made a fresh £35m bid for Ndoye, which includes add-ons worth £5m, but there has now been a bizarre twist at Bologna’s end of the saga.

What Bologna have done to convince Dan Ndoye to reject Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have competition from Napoli to sign Ndoye, however, it’s the East Midlanders who’re believed to be leading the race.

That’s because Ndoye has already agreed personal terms with Forest, with the Switzerland international preferring a move to the City Ground.

Bologna are still hopeful their prized asset will stay and they’ve actually deployed a pretty bizarre tactic to convince him to reject Forest.

According to Repubblica, via Tutto Napoli, they hired popstar Gianni Morando to perform in front of Ndoye and his Bologna teammates at pre-season camp.

The famous singer actually addressed the Forest target directly amidst the light-hearted gig and said: “He who leaves the old path for the new, knows what he leaves, but does not know what he will find.”

it’s unlikely that will have any impact on Ndoye’s decision, but nonetheless, an interesting tactic, to say the least.

Ndoye’s underlying data is very interesting

Forest often defend pretty deep under Espirito Santo, with the idea of hitting teams quickly on the transition.

As such, they need a certain type of winger who is willing to conduct his defensive duties and Ndoye is certainly that.

According to FBref data, the 24-year-old ranks in the top nine per cent for interceptions per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe.

Ndoye also sits in the top 11 per cent for tackles per 90, so clearly he’s not shy of tracking back and getting stuck in.

Of course, going forward is his strength as evinced by his successful take-ons statistic, which puts him in the top nine per cent.
