Nottingham Forest player Morgan Gibbs-White has ended weeks of speculation by penning a new contract with the Reds.

Reports claimed that Gibbs-White was looking to sign for Tottenham, but now he’s committed his future to Forest for the foreseeable future.

The Forest number 10 is a talismanic figure at the City Ground and it’s a massive relief that the club are going to be keeping the vice-captain, with Forest already selling Anthony Elanga to Newcastle.

It would appear that Evangelos Marinakis was very influential in signing Gibbs-White to a new contract and there has been a lovely moment between the two doing the rounds on social media.

What Evangelos Marinakis called Morgan Gibbs-White that made him smile

A touching interview took place after it was announced that Gibbs-White had penned his new deal and Marinakis said something that really tickled the number 10.

Marinakis mentioned the word ‘legend’ when discussing the Forest vice-captain and with the shot panning to Gibbs-White it was clear that the comment tickled him somewhat.

The Forest owner told the official media team: “We’re very happy, we share the same dreams and ambitions, he’s a talented player. He loves Nottingham Forest and he has become a legend already. We needed to send a message to our supporters that with legends, you need to treat them in an appropriate manner.”

Gibbs-White has been a revelation since signing for Forest from Wolves in 2022 and now, the fan base can look forward to seeing him in action once again next season.

Forest now need to get busy in the transfer market

The Reds need a replacement for Elanga and it does feel as though the Reds will get themselves some new players before the season gets underway.

Dan Ndoye is the man heavily linked with a move to the City Ground in the coming weeks and he does fit the profile of what Forest might look for.

Thankfully, Forest won’t have two key players to replace this summer, however, with Gibbs-White now pledging his future to the club.

Marinakis has pulled one rabbit out of a hat this summer and now he must get to the negotiating table to bring more players to the football club before the campaign gets going.
