How Evangelos Marinakis feels about Daniel Levy after Morgan Gibbs-White signs Nottingham Forest deal

The saga involving Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White and a possible move to Tottenham is finally over.

On Saturday night, shortly after Forest had lost to Fulham in their latest pre-season friendly, it was announced that Gibbs-White had signed a new contract.

The Reds number 10 has penned a three-year deal to remain at the City Ground until 2028 and remove any doubt over his immediate future.

Perhaps more crucially, Gibbs-White no longer has a release clause in his contract and Forest will now be able to sell him at whatever price they deem fit when the time does come to cash in.

How Evangelos Marinakis feels about Daniel Levy over Morgan Gibbs-White

According to The Telegraph, it doesn’t appear that Marinakis and Levy will be exchanging Christmas cards any time soon in the near future.

It’s suggested in the article that Tottenham failed to activate a number of things in order to make the release clause become officially active.

Marinakis felt that how Tottenham – and Levy in particular – conducted themselves throughout the whole situation was disrespectful to Forest.

The legal action notice served by Marinakis to Levy was a scare tactic, whilst the Reds also considered reporting Spurs to the Premier League as well.

The Greek businessman took Tottenham’s stance personally and, as a result, he upped the ante to convince Gibbs-White to remain at the club and pen a new deal on Trentside.

Marinakis proves he’s not to be messed with

Marinakis did say that Forest wouldn’t get promoted to the Premier League and simply make the numbers up.

Now, he’s proved his point by ignoring a big six club to tie down one of his top players when Levy and Tottenham thought they could just bully their way to a new signing.

Forest finished seventh in the Premier League last season and naturally, that has led to interest from a number of bigger clubs in their star players.

Marinakis is undeterred, however, and it’s great that he’s managed to gazump an owner as savvy as Levy in the process over the Gibbs-White deal.
