Nottingham Forest have completed a third summer signing by adding Dan Ndoye to the ranks.
In the worst-kept secret, Ndoye signed for Forest after passing a medical with the club and signing a five-year contract at the City Ground.
Ndoye loved seeing the new Forest shirt for the first time, and fans will now be excited to witness him wearing the Garibaldi.
Anthony Elanga joined Newcastle in early July, and Ndoye will now fill this void, with more wingers likely to sign for the club.
With Ramon Sosa also leaving Forest this summer, Forest do still need wingers, but on the back of Ndoye signing, this could be bad news for one current forward.
Dan Ndoye signing is bad news for Jota Silva
Surely, Silva is now coming to the end of the road at Forest.
The 25-year-old checked in from Vitoria last summer but managed to start just five Premier League games, with the player failing to convince Nuno Espirito Santo.
Silva has been linked with Sporting CP and even before Forest sign another winger, it surely makes sense to let the player leave after the Ndoye capture.
Forest want Adama Traore with Espirito Santo having worked with him before and he’d be a definite upgrade on Silva’s performances from last season.
It makes no sense to keep the player signed by Forest for £5.9 million and after landing Ndoye, the club should now look to offload Silva.
Forest must improve squad depth
Silva and Sosa will hardly be missed at Forest.
If the three wingers next year were to be Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ndoye and Traore, then that would make a significant impact on the state of the squad.
It’s positive to see Forest now starting to increase their desire to sign players and hopefully, more new recruits can come to the club before the season starts.
Silva has been a good character at Forest, but if the club is serious about challenging for the top half once again, better options will be needed.
