Elliot Anderson has already established himself as a star at Nottingham Forest, but one potential new signing could take the England under-21 international to the next level.

Nuno Espírito Santo thinks Anderson could be the Premier League’s best if he continues his trajectory, after starring in the Forest squad last season.

Even this summer, Anderson won the under-21 Euros with England as his reputation in the game grows, with eyes now on Thomas Tuchel’s senior squad for the former Newcastle United man.

Anderson’s all-round game makes him an incredibly valuable option for Nuno, but one potential new addition to the Forest midfield could see him adapt his game to elite status.

Mads Bidstrup could change Elliot Anderson’s game

Forest are targeting Mads Bidstrup as the replacement for Danilo in the Forest squad, with the Salzburg captain reportedly open to a return to the Premier League after spending time at Brentford.

When asked about the Forest move, Bidstrup didn’t rule out a Salzburg exit, which will have encouraged Evangelos Marinakis, with the Dane’s strengths potentially game-changing for Anderson.

Bidstrup would be a defensive asset for Forest with his ability to win duels and recover for his midfield partners. This would allow the likes of Anderson to develop more as an attacking threat, with the safety net of Bidstrup in behind.

Anderson’s teammates want him to shoot more and someone like Bidstrup would free him up to do exactly that, a talent he has already shown he has in his locker.

Two goals and six assists last season was by no means a bad return, but Forest fans all know that Anderson has more in his locker going forward.

He’s proved it as well, with a productive loan spell at Bristol Rovers showing attacking guile that earned him a chance at Newcastle.

13 goals in 21 appearances was a strong return and one that he could replicate at the City Ground, with the support of Bidstrup behind him doing the dirty work.
