Ange Postecoglou must make brutal call vs Real Betis and start £30m player ahead of Nottingham Forest fan favourite

Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Burnley to leave Ange Postecoglou with some selection dilemmas ahead of the Europa League clash with Real Betis.

Forest fans are already calling for Postecoglou to drop a star player, and there have been more questions than answers in the three games he’s overseen so far.

Wayne Rooney admitted he could see a positive change in Forest against Burnley, but it’s yet another game without putting three points on the board.

With Betis to come next, there is now another immediate chance to get back to winning ways, and Postecoglou must now make a very telling change against the La Liga outfit.

Nottingham Forest’s midfield is now obvious after Burnley clash

It might come as an unpopular one among some fans but perhaps the time has come for Morgan Gibbs-White to sit out a few games in the Forest team.

Something has to give, and although Gibbs-White was improved against Burnley, there is a sense that he might welcome a week or two out of the team.

When Ibrahim Sangare was introduced yesterday, his presence in occupying the defensive aspect of the midfield allowed Elliot Anderson to get forward and create three good chances for Forest to score.

Furthermore, Douglas Luiz looks like a brilliant player and after his summer arrival from Juventus, it feels like he will now become a mainstay based on his performances in the two matches he’s played.

Gibbs-White could benefit from being a sub

Since the opening day of the season when Forest last won a game, Gibbs-White has been largely ineffective, and that is a cause for concern.

The summer ordeal involving a possible move to Tottenham clearly did him no favours, and now it looks for all the world like his place is under question.

Sangare’s introduction yesterday did give Forest more attacking impetus as it allowed the Ivorian to sit and guard things whilst Anderson went forward more willingly.

Gibbs-White will undoubtedly play a huge part in the Forest team this season, but with other players now keen to take his place, perhaps it’s time for Postecoglou to try something a touch different.
