Nottingham Forest have now identified their top target to replace Edu

Nottingham Forest will need to replace Edu in the coming months after a fruitless spell as the club’s Global Head of Football.

An official announcement hasn’t been made yet, but it’s anticipated that Edu will be leaving Forest, given that he’s not been at any games for months.

Evangelos Marinakis is clearly working hard to replace him behind the scenes, and although George Syrianos has stepped into the breach, his skills are probably better served elsewhere.

Now, a new appointment could be in the offing with an Edu replacement identified to work alongside Syrianos and the other Forest recruitment staff.

Nottingham Forest want Gregory Lorenzi

According to Ouest France, Forest are going to make a move for Lorenzi in the summer, with his 10-year association with Brest drawing to a close.

The 42-year-old has developed quite a relationship in France at board level and has overseen recruitment that has taken Brest from Ligue 2 to the Champions League.

It’s believed that he’d now like to work with a club where bigger budgets are available and that should make Forest an attractive proposition for him.

It’s further believed that he received criticism from head coach Eric Roy regarding the club’s transfer activity last summer, and that has contributed to his departure.

Forest are thought to have already sounded out Lorenzi, and he would almost certainly come in as a replacement for Edu if the green light was given for his arrival.

Given the haphazard nature of the club’s recruitment last season, any new figure appointed will have to ensure things get better next season and perhaps Lorenzi can help iron that out.
