Nottingham Forest are assessing the midfield market for an Elliot Anderson replacement.

Evangelos Marinakis’ chiefs are searching far and wide, with Barcelona’s Marc Casado linked to the City Ground and closer to home, Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Bergvall emerging as a target.

Liverpool star Curtis Jones is also wanted by Nottingham Forest, and it’s understood that a £35m bid could be enough to strike an agreement.

However, there has now been a fresh development on the Jones deal, and it’ll certainly be frustrating to hear for the Tricky Trees.

Curtis Jones doesn’t want to join Nottingham Forest

According to the Liverpool Echo, Jones does not want to sign for Nottingham Forest this summer.

It’s understood that Inter Milan, Arsenal and Aston Villa are all in the race to land his signature, so if he were to leave Anfield, it would be for one of those three.

Forest will have to move on to other targets, and it seems they already have done, as there is a suggestion that a £43m bid has gone in for Bergvall.

The Sweden international seems to have become the number one target to succeed Anderson, but that deal has its complications as well.

The Telegraph’s John Percy has just reported that Spurs consider Bergvall not for sale, and Roberto De Zerbi has offered his assurances to the 20-year-old that he will play a key role next term.

There’s been no word on whether Bergvall has changed his stance on wanting to leave, so the transfer remains alive.

A telling couple of weeks lie ahead for the East Midlanders, who will be keen to get plenty of business done before their first pre-season game against Notts County on the 18th of July.
