Nottingham Forest will have a substantial budget to spend this summer.

Elliot Anderson’s imminent £116m sale will give Vitor Pereira’s transfer kitty a significant boost as we head into July.

Nottingham Forest appear to have bid for Lucas Bergvall in recent days, although a £43m offer has been knocked back for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

Rico Lewis ‘one to watch’ as Nottingham Forest show interest

Despite sanctioning Anderson’s sale, Evangelos Marinakis is clearly eager to show ambition this summer as he tries to push through a move for Bergvall.

Now, it’s being reported by the Daily Mail that Man City’s Rico Lewis is deemed as ‘one to watch’ for Forest.

The report claims Lewis was mentioned in the Anderson negotiations and Pereira’s chiefs are still exploring a potential deal.

The 21-year-old, who has been capped five times by England, only started four Premier League games last term, so he may be keen to depart for regular game time elsewhere.

Lewis can operate on either side as a full-back, and he’s also very competent playing in the middle of the park as a midfielder.

So, he’d be a really versatile addition to the Forest squad and would provide brilliant cover in multiple positions.

Earlier this year, Pep Guardiola described Lewis as an ‘extraordinary’ player and admitted he should be playing more.

“Extraordinary,” Guardiola stated.

“Always, he’s free and is in the right spot, arriving in the box and has an ability to score goals. He always in the right spot, which is not easy to find small spaces.

“When the opponent allows you to do that, he’s just extraordinary. Always I have the feeling he should play more. He knows.

“I’d say it is weird to say because he didn’t play much lately, but I am a big admirer of Rico. I’m completely in love for the way he moves and the way I like to play football.”

Lewis is valued at around £25m, so it’s a very doable deal for Forest.
