Nottingham Forest need to get a move on with their business.

Now that Oliver Glasner is in post, there is a pressing need to get additions through the door at the City Ground as quickly as possible.

With pre-season kicking off on July 18, Forest should aim to have a lot of their main business done by then.

Name one Crystal Palace star you’d love to see join Glasner at Forest 👀

Adam Wharton.

Glasner’s three-at-the-back system will take time to implement, so this summer provides precious training time.

With that said, it’s imperative Forest don’t miss out on centre-back Jhon Lucumi after a fresh development emerges.

Nottingham Forest face competition from Sunderland for Jhon Lucumi

Nottingham Forest are exploring a deal to sign Lucumi after his impressive season in Serie A with Bologna.

Lucumi had a solid World Cup with Colombia and is now returning home to resolve his future, with his £24m release clause reportedly expiring on the 15th of July.

Now, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, it’s understood that Premier League rivals Sunderland have joined the race to sign the 28-year-old.

The Italian outlet note that Sunderland have a substantial budget this window and have earmarked Lucumi as one of two defensive targets they want.

What should Oliver Glasner’s target be in the Premier League this season? 🤔

Oliver Glasner question.

Inter Milan and Juventus are also showing an interest, so Forest appear to be losing some ground in the race.

Forest simply cannot afford to be in a long, drawn-out transfer battle. They must look to wrap up a deal imminently or move on.

The Tricky Trees are also eyeing Jan Ziolkowski, so they may quickly pivot to the promising young AS Roma defender.

Glasner must, at the very least, have a settled defensive cohort in place for the start of pre-season as he implements a change of formation.

A telling week, or so, lies ahead before that first friendly against Notts County next Saturday.
