Nottingham Forest’s first-teamers return for pre-season later this month.
Oliver Glasner will take charge of his first Nottingham Forest game in nine days’ time, as his side take on Notts County at Meadow Lane.
The Premier League season doesn’t start until August 22, when they play host to Leeds United at the City Ground.
So, Glasner and his recruitment team have 44 days to get the squad ready for the start of the 2026/27 season.
With that said, we’ve asked our TalkingPoints and Facebook users what Forest’s objectives should be this term.
What should Oliver Glasner’s target be in the Premier League this season? 🤔
Nottingham Forest fans split on what the objectives should be this season
It seems there are a section of Forest fans who are expecting Glasner to return the Tricky Trees to Europe.
Some are a bit more pessimistic and just want the club to be out of a relegation battle.
- “Top 10, decent Cup run.”
- “I think the big guy would want us to challenge for European football again, but I would be happy with mid-table and no relegation scrap, just to steady things and start to establish us properly.”
- “Top eight & European qualification.”
- “Top 6, 13 million a year! Defo Europe!!!”
- “Top half of the table and a European qualification. Considering the budget we have think that’s realistic.”
- “It would be nice not fretting about relegation. Mid table whilst he sorts his squad out, then a more serious stab at Europe the season after.”
- “A significant improvement on his last two years in the Premier League. His poor record in the Premier League seems to have been largely ignored.”
- “The aim should be to finish in the European places, but a lot will depend on what signings are made and how well they settle into the demands of PL football.”
One Crystal Palace supporter added: “Palace fan comes in peace. You will defo get European Football with Glasner. You might get a League or FA Cup final if all goes well with transfers. The man’s a genius.”
Indeed, a lot will depend on the business Forest do, and at the moment, they are being linked with some interesting targets.
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is being heavily linked to the City Ground, and it’s emerged that Marinakis has put in a bid for Givairo Read.
Bologna’s talismanic defender Jhon Lucumi is on Forest’s radar, too, but there is substantial competition for his signature.
It’s vitally important that the club get their business done early, as Glasner will need more training time to implement his new style of play and formation.
