Nottingham Forest have one England international on their books.

Morgan Gibbs-White is currently the only England star at the City Ground, following Elliot Anderson’s departure to Manchester City.

Oliver Glasner had four Three Lions internationals at Crystal Palace in Eberechi Eze, Adam Wharton, Marc Guehi and Dean Henderson.

So, the newly-appointed Nottingham Forest manager will be looking to replicate that feat with the East Midlanders by recruiting talented English youngsters whilst giving opportunities to some of the homegrown talent as well.

With that said, Forest may have an academy graduate who could flourish under the Austrian and get into Thomas Tuchel’s squad for Euro 2028.

Zach Abbott could become an England international

Zach Abbott is held in really high regard at Forest, and clearly the FA feel the same way, as he’s consistently been called up to England’s youth squads.

Abbott, who Thierry Henry is a big fan of, has been capped twice by England’s under-20s, so he’s certainly on the right pathway to playing for the senior side one day.

The 20-year-old could have a real breakthrough season under Glasner, as the Austrian boss will need more centre-backs to accommodate his three-at-the-back formation.

It sounds as though Abbott has already made a name for himself in pre-season, as he won the gruelling bleep test – which tests endurance and fitness.

Will Oliver Glasner utilise any of the forgotten men at Nottingham Forest? If so, who?

Let us know who you have high hopes for…

Abbott actually trained with Tuchel’s England squad last season and was captured scoring a great goal in one of the sessions.

That type of quality will certainly catch Glasner’s eye, and it wouldn’t at all be surprising if the Forest graduate started 20-plus games in the Premier League this term.

By the time Euro 2028 comes around, Abbott will be 22-years-old and may have two proper seasons of top-flight football under his belt.

So, there is a real incentive for Abbott to kick on and fulfil his lofty potential.
