Ola Aina picks £46k-a-week Nottingham Forest fringe player as the strongest at the club

Ola Aina is quickly becoming every Nottingham Forest supporter’s new favourite player.

The Nigerian signed for Forest on a free transfer from Torino in the summer of 2023 and he’s been a truly amazing signing.

On Saturday he scored a tremendous goal to round off the 3-0 win over West Ham, with Alan Shearer raving about Aina after the game.

Aina has found himself in a more natural position of right-back during 2024/25 as Alex Moreno continues to impress on the left.

The 27-year-old has been so good that Forest are keen to tie Aina to a new contract with his current deal due to expire next summer.

Aina’s goal last weekend stunned Eric da Silva Moreira and it would be great if he could add a few more of those to his game this season.

Ola Aina chooses strongest player at Nottingham Forest

It’s been claimed by Callum Hudson-Odoi that Aina is always the one getting the Reds stars pumped up before games these days.

This week, however, it’s been the turn of Aina to answer the quickfire questions given to him by Forest.

It was claimed by Aina that Hudson-Odoi was the toughest player to face in training but he was also quizzed on who he thinks is the strongest.

He told the club’s media team: “That’s a difficult one, I would go, maybe Willy. Willy Boly definitely.”

Boly is surely in his final year at Nottingham Forest

Right now, Boly is considered the fourth-choice central defender at the City Ground.

Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo are the two in possession of the shirts, with Morato usually coming on to see games out in the closing stages.

That’s left Boly to be an unused substitute in the last five Premier League matches having initially started the first game of the season.

The 33-year-old is a good professional and it was still easy to see why Forest re-signed him for another year last summer.

In total, he’s made 39 appearances for Forest and his leadership qualities in the dressing room perhaps shouldn’t be dismissed.

Boly earns £46,000-a-week at the City Ground and it does feel as though this will be his final season on Trentside.

With Milenkovic, Murillo and Morato all having years ahead of them, Boly’s chances of football will be severely restricted this season.

Furthermore, young talent Andrew Omobamidele can’t even get in the squad these days and perhaps keeping Boly will further stifle his development.

As a player who’s kept himself fit and ready to play, he will likely get himself hooked up with another club next season.

Boly will go down as a solid signing for Forest and he can claim a big part in helping Forest remain in the Premier League during those first two seasons.
