Nottingham Forest have shocked everyone this season and now find themselves in the European places, but that could come at a price as clubs circle for Murillo.

Murillo joined Nottingham Forest from Corinthians for around £15 million last summer.

Having seen the Brazilian in action at the City Ground and with the rise in form this season, it’s safe to say that Forest picked up an absolute bargain.

It’s clear that his performances are already attracting the attention of some big clubs, as Real Madrid were in attendance to watch Murillo against Newcastle.

But, it appears as if Nottingham Forest fans don’t have too much to worry about when it comes to the January transfer window, with Ben Jacobs providing an update.

Ben Jacobs issues January transfer window update on Murillo

Murillo is a key cog in Nuno Espirito Santo’s machine at Nottingham Forest, and has already played a massive part for the Reds this season.

It would take something special for a club to lure him away from the City Ground, with a price tag of £60m-£70m being branded around for Murillo.

Ben Jacobs has provided an update on the situation and it appears as if the approach from Nottingham Forest is very much the same in his eyes.

Speaking to Forest Fan TV, Jacobs has said that Forest expects to keep him when asked about whether he’ll stay at the club.

“Well I think that’s Forest’s expectation. Of course he’s going to be in demand but you may remember we spoke over the summer and the same kind of clubs were looking and circling.

“They’ve got no obligation to sell, and he’s only been at the club for a season and a bit as well so Forest has kind of got all the cards.

“The interest which is reasonably well reported is accurate from clubs within the Premier League and also within Europe as well, but at this stage, I’d be staggered, for example if it was a midseason exit, so I think you can at least relax until next summer.”

Keeping Murillo could be the difference when it comes to Europe

Murillo has played a massive part in the defensive record Nottingham Forest currently hold in the Premier League, which sees them slot in as the second best team.

Nuno Espirito Santo even said that Murillo has been ‘huge’ this season and realises his importance, so he won’t be in a rush to wave goodbye to him.

It’s clear that he’s loving life at Nottingham Forest, with his goal celebration last time out full of passion as he celebrated right in front of the fans behind the goal.

Evangelos Marinakis has already pulled the trigger when it came to selling Brennan Johnson for just shy of £50 million, but the club were under the microscope for PSR, so there was a reason.
