Chris Wood is in the form of his life for Nottingham Forest and on Monday he bagged his 12th Premier League goal of the season.

The talisman was signed for Forest in the January transfer window of 2023 and it took him some time to settle at the City Ground.

Wood has been given a new nickname by Shay Given this season and his goalscoring exploits have surprised many people on Trentside.

Last season he bagged 14 Premier League goals and with Wood costing Forest £15 million he’s proved to be an absolute steal of a signing.

Forest now look to have made a big decision on Wood and it looks like they are keen to keep him around on Trentside.

Chris Wood contract update issued on Sky Sports News

It appears as though Wood is wanted at Forest beyond the end of the season despite the fact that the striker has now turned 33-years-old.

Alan Shearer has hailed Wood for his performances this season and earlier this season he became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer when it comes to Premier League games.

Now, Rob Dorsett on Sky Sports has issued an exciting update on the Forest talisman and it might not be long before we get an announcement about Wood.

“Chris Wood, we know his contract is up in the summer and I’m told that negotiations are progressing well there and there is optimism that he will sign.”

After scoring 15 goals in all competitions last season, some fans were sceptical about whether or not he could repeat those exploits this season.

However, he’s proved that with the service on offer at Forest he will get chances to score and he’s definitely still capable of putting them away.

Wood has been a fine player for Forest since signing and although he made a sticky start to life at the club, he’s now proved himself as a quality striker.

It would be great to think that Forest don’t have to worry about losing their main talisman for free next summer and hopefully an announcement is now imminent.
