Nottingham Forest are riding the crest of a wave at the moment and haven’t tasted defeat in the Premier League for eight matches.
The Reds haven’t lost since December when Manchester City proved too strong for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team but Forest didn’t dwell on it for too long.
Forest went on a remarkable run of six straight victories with Liverpool ending that run of wins with a draw at the City Ground on Tuesday night.
There have been a number of top performers this season. Matz Sels has been hailed by Joe Hart and the whole season had been built on solid foundations.
Evangelos Marinakis would love to sign a striker this month. Taiwo Awoniyi has been linked with a move to West Ham and that would leave the Reds very short with Chris Wood the only striker option.
Wood has bagged 13 goals this season, including scoring in his last three matches and it’s fair to say that he’s been busy catching the eye over the last 12 months.

Robert Earnshaw hails Chris Wood and shares what he really likes about him
The former Forest talisman isn’t the first person to praise Wood this season. His goalscoring exploits have led to Shay Given handing Wood a new nickname for his run of form.
Earnshaw knows a thing or two about scoring goals in the Garibaldi. He’s now the latest to confirm that he’s a huge fan of Wood, sharing the trait that he really likes about him.
He told the Shut Up and Show More Football podcast: “Chris Wood has been on fire – he’s having a hell of a season!
“I love what he’s doing. I’m always analysing games and as a forward, how he does it, where he does it and how he scores his goals.
“Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do on a football pitch but he’s doing everything so, so well. The quality in and around him is brilliant, he’s got great technique and he’s underrated. His finishing is brilliant.”
Wood can fire Forest into Europe this season
With bottom club Southampton due to come to Forest on Sunday there is a chance that Wood can eclipse last season’s total.
The progress Wood has made at Forest has been remarkable. Eyebrows were raised when £15 million was forked out to sign him from Newcastle but he’s made a seriously big impact.
Wood’s 14 strikes last season kept Forest in the Premier League. Now, his goals could help Forest to a different target altogether with European football very much on the radar.
Earnshaw is right to rave about Wood. He richly deserves his recognition for his efforts this season and right now, he’s one of the top centre-forwards in the Premier League.
