Nottingham Forest are going to be in the news as the deadline approaches with the club still keen to bring another player or two to the City Ground.
Evangelos Marinakis wants another forward player. The Reds have a better squad than they’ve had in their two previous seasons in the Premier League but there is still scope for improvement.
Callum Hudson-Odoi highlighted his importance on Saturday – by not playing! With the former Chelsea man now injured, it’s highlighted that another forward wouldn’t go amiss.
Several attackers have been linked with a move. Forest have been tracking Matheus Cunha and he could now be available with Wolves languishing in the Premier League relegation zone.
Jamie Redknapp thinks Yoane Wissa will cost a fortune and with Forest linked with the Brentford man, that deal might be a complex one to achieve with Brentford holding their own European ambitions.
Marcus Edwards changes agent amid Nottingham Forest claims
A telltale sign of a player nearing a transfer is when they decide to switch agents. As he’s now confirmed on Instagram, Edwards has done exactly that with the transfer window drawing to a close.
Edwards has been linked with Forest this month. The player is way down the pecking order in Portugal, with the winger playing very little football since the departure of Ruben Amorim to Manchester United.
The player is free to leave the club for around £8 million this month. Naturally, that has alerted a number of clubs towards his services with the Premier League his preferred destination.
Edwards, 26, has scored three goals this season for Sporting CP. Being left-footed he’d perhaps be a very welcomed addition to the Forest front line and it will be interesting to see if this decision makes any difference at all.
Marcus Edwards compared to Lionel Messi
Clearly, they’re not in the same bracket but Edwards was once compared to Lionel Messi by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and so far he’s enjoyed a decent career.
The Premier League might be a league that he feels he’s got unfinished business with. Despite coming through the youth ranks at Tottenham, he only actually made a single appearance.
Now, Forest might offer him a chance to change that. It had previously been mooted that he may join Olympiacos on loan first but with Hudson-Odoi injured things might change in that sense.
Edwards would have it all to prove in England. However, with Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa not yet producing the goods, it might be a good time to bring the winger to the club this month.
