Jamie Redknapp reveals when he felt Nottingham Forest would sack Nuno Espirito Santo

At the end of last season, the idea of Nuno Espirito Santo not being Nottingham Forest manager this campaign would have been ludicrous.

However, after going public with his frustrations with Forest’s transfer business and saying he had a fractured relationship with the owner, the Portuguese essentially set a timer for his dismissal.

Over the international break, Ange Postecoglou replaced Espirito Santo at the helm with Evangelos Marinakis stating Ange’s previous experience of winning trophies was a deciding factor.

Now, Jamie Redknapp has given his verdict on both Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.

Jamie Redknapp says he felt Nuno Espirito Santo was on borrowed time last season

Despite last season’s success in getting into the Europa League, Jamie Redknapp has said that one moment made him think the Portuguese would not last long at the City Ground.

The former Premier League footballer was speaking with TalkSPORT about the decision.

Jamie Redknapp said, “I mean, I felt, I’m not trying to be wise after the event, but Nuno was on borrowed time after last year.

“When Marinakis came onto the pitch and started berating him and complaining, I thought, that’s not going to end well. And unfortunately, it hasn’t.”

Toward the end of last season, Evangelos Marinakis infamously made his way onto the pitch to vent his frustrations with Nuno Espirito Santo.

His anger was not with the manager himself, but rather the medical staff for allowing Taiwo Awoniyi to stay on the pitch after he had crashed into the post.

The incident left the Nigerian needing to go to hospital, where he had to be medically induced into a coma due to a ruptured intestine.

Despite the fact Nuno was not the focus of Marinakis’ rage, he was the one who felt the brunt of his anger.

Jamie Redknapp is excited about Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest

Jamie Redknapp is looking forward to watching Nottingham Forest under Ange Postecoglou, and believes it could be ‘box office.’

Redknapp said, “That’s going to be interesting. I care a lot. I think it’s an interesting move. And I think every now and again, there are some things that are just going to be box office for us.

“Because Ange, with the style of football he had, and Marinakis, who is obviously an amazing character, wants things done instantly.”

It will certainly be an interesting few months as Ange Postecoglou looks to imprint his style on the squad.

Evangelos Marinakis wants success soon, and the Australian said he wants to have an impact straight away.

This season could have all the makings of one to remember for Forest fans.
