Nottingham Forest learn of a third new price tag for Wolves star Matheus Cunha as deadline approaches

Nottingham Forest are very keen to land another attacking player before the transfer window slams shut next Monday night.

Evangelos Marinakis will be working on a new forward. The ambitious owner wants Forest to get into Europe and as a result, he will be keen to leave no stone unturned.

Yoane Wissa has been linked with Forest this month. However, Jamie Redknapp thinks Wissa would cost around £40 million and the Reds won’t be spending that on a player who is already 28-years-old.

Another player linked with Forest is Matheus Cunha. The Wolves player is stalling over a new contract and it could be a case of the relegation-threatened club being forced into a sale this month.

New Matheus Cunha price emerges amid Forest interest

Arsenal look to have dropped out of the Cunha race. As a result, it means that the Reds might have a free run at trying to land the striker this month – although it’s not going to be easy!

According to the Daily Mail, Cunha is now valued at £70 million by Wolves as the club looks to deter potential suitors from making a bid given their current ongoing situation.

The 25-year-old has bagged 10 goals this season with Wolves now in the bottom three. A new contract had been in the offing but the player hasn’t been forthcoming to sign on the dotted line just yet.

That has opened the door to potential suitors. However, landing him won’t be easy this month – especially with such an eyewatering price now placed on his head.

Cunha might be one for Forest to pursue this summer

It’s hard to imagine Wolves offloading their best player with the window so close to closing. Right now, the club would have no time to find a replacement and the fan backlash would be detrimental.

As a result, Forest might have to wait until the summer. If the Reds can secure European football without Cunha, perhaps the Brazilian would jump at the chance to come to the City Ground at the end of the season.

Furthermore, Wolves might be a Championship club by then and if that is the case there is no way that they will be able to command anything like £70 million for Cunha.

Morgan Gibbs-White has endorsed the signing of Cunha. However, it feels like a very complex deal to complete this month and Forest might have to focus their attention elsewhere.
