Nottingham Forest’s incredible season has expectedly led to Espirito Santo’s stars attracting interest from the Football world, as well as other Premier League sides.
It’s no secret that Murillo has been attracting interest from Chelsea but a bid never came in January after Murillo signed a new Forest deal to secure his future at the City Ground.
Even Liverpool have scouted Murillo but Nuno Espirito Santo will have fought very hard against any bid for his most valuable asset, as well as the rest of his first-team squad such as Elliot Anderson who has also been linked with Liverpool.
Further afield, Chris Wood was linked with Saudi Arabia before signing his new deal, emphasising that Forest’s charge for European football is both being noticed and aiming to be capitalised upon by clubs who feel they are in a better position.
A perfect example of this was seen in the summer transfer window, but the Forest player in question has just confirmed his loyalty to the club on social media.

Anthony Elanga emphasises his love for Nottingham Forest
Anthony Elanga has earned the praise of Forest fans in recent weeks, made especially clear after the Swedish winger registered three assists in the 7-0 thrashing of Brighton on Saturday.
The love between Elanga and the Forest fans continues to grow, with his latest comments when speaking to the Forest media team only serving to highlight this.
Speaking on Forest’s warm weather training trip to Dubai, Elanga said: “Honestly, I can’t speak highly enough of the club. Since the first day when I met the guys, I think we clicked straight away. […] I love the club and I just want to continue to play for the fans and for the badge and win games.
“When we win games, seeing the fans sing just makes my day really, so yeah I just want to continue to play for this club and enjoy it.”
Surprisingly, Elanga was linked with a move away in January but his latest comments suggest that those rumours wouldn’t have gone much further, despite the interest from one of Forest’s European-chasing rivals.
Newcastle United will be disappointed by Anthony Elanga’s comments
On a hectic summer deadline day, Newcastle United attempted to sign Elanga but were unsuccessful in their pursuit of the flying winger despite their best efforts.
A £35m fee was mooted for Elanga to Newcastle on that day before time ran out on any potential deal but there has been no indication that the North East giants have given up their interest in Forest’s star man.
So much so that Newcastle see Elanga as a future star signing at St James’ Park, but that has been made a lot more difficult with Forest now occupying the same places that Newcastle could’ve offered Elanga as an incentive.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis made consolidating his squad a January priority that will undoubtedly continue through into the summer, especially if Forest qualify for continental football. Therefore, regardless of Elanga’s love for Forest, Newcastle will struggle to secure their top target.
